If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen. • Spiritual gifts are God expressing Himself through His people as we depend on Him. • John 15:5 Without Me you can do nothing. • A spiritual gift is is BEYOND a talent, skill or personality trait but a gift of grace. • Every spiritual gift is meant to point to Jesus, creating or building a relationship with the Father. • Spiritual gifts help us know, say, or do something supernaturally - and reveal Jesus. • Each gift is a reflection of Jesus. • We focus on the GIVER more than the gift. Always! • Gifts : 1 Corinthians 12, Romans 12, Ephesians 4. 1. Wisdom. • 1 Corinthians 1:24, 30 Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, Who became for us wisdom from God. • Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. The Gift of wisdom. • Delivers Godly direction and insight to a pressing need, question or situation. • Can see through the confusion of a situation to provide direction and help. Or given warning when a decision or action can lead to something harmful. • Helps you know what heaven wants you to know and do. 2. Knowledge. • Romans 11:33 Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and His ways past finding out! • 1 Corinthians 1:5-6 ...that you were enriched in everything by Him in all utterance and all knowledge, even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you. The Gift of Knowledge. • God‘s knowledge in a specific situation that is provable, accurate and present tense. • Words of knowledgeshows God’s desire towards His creation. His personal involvement and intimate knowledge of the details of our lives. 3. Discernment. • Mark 2:8 But immediately, when Jesus perceived in His spirit that they reasoned thus within themselves, He said to them, “Why do you reason about these things in your hearts? • John 2:24-25 Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He knew all men, and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for He knew what was in man. The Gift of Discernment. • The ability to understand the unseen source and know the motive behind something. • Knows when something is not OF or FROM God. • God’s diagnostic ability. 4. Prophecy. • John 14:10 The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. • Revelation 19:10 For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy. The Gift of Prophecy. • A special message from God that strengthens the church. • The ability to receive a divinely inspired message from God and deliver it to others. • The revealing of God’s will in a particular situation or season. • Prophecy builds up, brings comfort, speaks encouragement. • 1 Thessalonians 5:20-21 Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. 5-6. Tongues and Interpretation. • Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God. • Jesus is our Mediator. (1 Timothy 2:5) Gift of Tongues and Interpretation. • A spiritual prayer language that gives you direct fellowship with God and prays directly into the will of the Father. • A spiritual language with God that allows your spirit to speak and flow outside your mindset, thinking and theology. • Personally edifies - builds YOU up. • Increases our ability and sensitivity to be led by God’s Spirit and hear His voice. • Builds up God’s presence in the atmosphere and in your life. • Interpretation needed - tongues used in public setting - everything else is shut down to hear. • There HAS to be an interpretation when tongues is used in public setting where everything else is shut down to hear. • Interpretation brings understanding and meaning to God’s specific message. 7. Faith. • Hebrews 12:1 Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith. The Gift of Faith. • Supernatural faith that believes for the impossible. Fully and actively convinced. • A confidant trust and assurance in God. • An unshakable trust in God to deliver on His promises, fulfill His Word, no matter what. • Holds fast to the truth of God in Christ Jesus, in spite of pressures, problems and obstacles that would otherwise paralyze or cripple you. 8. Healing. • Exodus 15:26 I am the Lord Who heals you. • Isaiah 53:4-5 Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. Gifts of Healing. • Something that was broken is made whole again. Restored. • Activated by the gift of faith - they operate together. 9. Miracles. • Matthew 19:26 With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible. • Acts 2:22 Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst. • Hebrews 2:4 God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will. Working of Miracles. • Supernaturally sped up process. A suddenly, in an instant, blink of an eye. • Miracles reveal the presence and glory of God, creating awe, wonder and Godly fear. 10. Ministry (Helps / Serving). • Philippians 2:5-7 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus...made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant... • Luke 22:27 For who is greater, he who sits at the table, or he who serves? Is it not he who sits at the table? Yet I am among you as the One who serves. • Jesus is the ultimate example of serving. The Gift of Service. • See things that need to be done - and does them! • Works behind the scenes to take care of things others don’t think about OR aren't willing to do. • Fills the gaps and meets practical needs. • Serves behind the scenes more than anything, allowing other ministries to function and move forward. • Willing and active. Not watching but involved and doing. 11. Teaching. • John 13:13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. • Matthew 22:16 Teacher, we know that You are true, and teach the way of God in truth. The Gift of Teaching. • Makes the Truth of God’s Word known, clear and applicable. • Has a strong desire for others to learn and grow in God's Word. • Upholds the truth of God’s Word. 12. Encouragement. • John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled. • 2 Chronicles 32:7 Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed. • Jesus is always building up, speaking life. The Gift of Exhortation, Encouragement. • Builds people up; strengthens and motivates people. • Reminds people of Who Jesus is and what He can do. 13. Giving. • Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many. • John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. The Gift of Giving. • Love to share what God has given them - generously and cheerfully. • Responds to needs with financial help and resources. • Seeks out opportunities to give and help others. 14. Leadership. • Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. • Matthew 16:24 If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. • Isaiah 58:11 The Lord will guide you continually. The Gift of Leadership. • Leads, assists, protects, cares for, oversees, guides and directs. • Sees the problem but also knows how to solve the problem. • Visionary. • Takes charge. Can handle and lead thru crises. 15. Administrations. • Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder... • 1 Corinthians 14:33 For God is not a God of disorder but of peace. The Gift of Administration. • Gives guidance and structure. • Sets things in order. • Able to organize, direct and implement plans. • Concerned with AND are good with details. 16. Mercy. • Psalm 13:5 But I have trusted in Your mercy; My heart shall rejoice in Your salvation. • Psalm 33:22 Let Your mercy, O Lord, be upon us, just as we hope in You. • Psalm 100:5 For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endures to all generations. • Psalm 103:8 The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. • Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved). The Gift of Mercy. • Patient and compassionate - especially toward those who are suffering, afflicted and in pain. (Emotional, physical or mental) • Has great empathy for others in their pain, trials and sufferings. • Able to come alongside people and see them through their healing process. • Very considerate to the feelings and circumstances of others. 17. Apostle. • Colossians 1:17-18 And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence. The Gift of Apostleship. • Gives oversight and covering. • Leader of leaders; minister of ministers. • Has a sense of mission and purpose and often begin new ministries. 18. Evangelist. • John 8:14 Jesus answered and said to them, “Even if I bear witness of Myself, My witness is true, for I know where I came from and where I am going; but you do not know where I come from and where I am going. The Gift of Evangelism. • Burdened for the lost and will go out of their way to share the truth with the lost. • Engages non-believers in meaningful conversations about Jesus. • Can talk about Jesus anytime, anywhere, in any way. • Connects with people where they are at and can explain the Gospel in clear, effective ways. • Don’t have or are able to overcome fear of rejection. 19. Pastor. • Psalm 23:1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. • John 10:11, 14 I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. The Gift of Pastor. • Shepherd or overseer. • Called to care for the spiritual well-being of a local body of God’s people. • Feed the flock. Care for. Build up. Help grow into spiritual maturity. • Help people find Jesus, know Jesus, grow to become like Jesus. • Steer those who have strayed.... • Give selves to the Word and to prayer.
