Ascend, Week 4, January 26th, 2025. Psalm 122-123:2 Psalm 122 I was glad when they said to me, “Let us go into the house of the Lord.” Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem! Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together, where the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, to the Testimony of Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. For thrones are set there for judgment, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: “May they prosper who love you. Peace be within your walls,
Prosperity within your palaces.” For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, “Peace be within you.” Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good. Psalm 123:1-2 Unto You I lift up my eyes, O You who dwell in the heavens. Behold, as the eyes of servants look to the hand of their masters, as the eyes of a maid to the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look to the Lord our God, until He has mercy on us. Gladness to the hearts of men. Wine. (Psalm 104:15, Ecclesiastes 10:19) Ointment and perfume. (Proverbs 27:9) Good counsel. (Proverbs 27:9) A wise son. (Proverbs 10:1, 15:20) A kind word; a good word. (Proverbs 12:25) God’s Law, God’s Word. (Exodus 19:8) The increase of Righteousness. (Proverbs 29:2) Jesus Celebrations. (Nehemiah 12:43) Victory. (2 Chronicles 20:27) The Lord and His Salvation. (Psalms. 5:11; 9:2; 40:16; 64:10) The ASCENT Passover - God’s deliverance and saving power. Pentecost - Covenant with God; His provision. Feast of Booths - God’s provision, protection, deliverance and forgiveness. Psalm 122 shows us the JOY in the place, people, purpose and prayer of the Lord. What happened at the city gates had great influence upon the spiritual climate of the city. Jerusalem. Strong and secure. :3 Justice and order. :5 Gathering place for ALL. :4 Divine status. :4 2 Chronicles 12:13 Jerusalem was the city the Lord chose out of all the tribes of Israel, to put His name there. Psalm 122 gives a picture of what the church looks like and does. NTCC Core Value : Humility. We carry same attitude as Christ and embody a life of service. Jesus is building the church. 1 Peter 2:5 You also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. Gathering together in His name magnifies His presence! The presence of the Lord is a retreat in the midst of battle; In His presence we find rest. Isaiah 6:1 I saw the Lord sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and the train of His robe filled the temple. Psalm 122:3 Jerusalem is built as a city that is compact together. Christ and the power of His Gospel binds us and holds us together. We bear His name. His seal of ownership is on us. He has identified us as His own by placing the Holy Spirit in our hearts. 2 Corinthians 1:22 NLT 1 Peter 2:9-10 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light; who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy. Gathering together is a deeply important, sacred aspect of the Christian life. Hebrews 10:25. Do not forsake the assembling of ourselves together. There is joy and gladness to be found in the house of the Lord with the people of the Lord worshiping the name of the Lord. We become like what we worship. Shalom peace. Wholeness for your entire being — body, soul and spirit. Encompasses prosperity, health, safety and total well-being. Completeness, soundness and rest Isaiah 56:7 My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations. Jeremiah 29:7 And seek the peace of the city where I have caused you to be carried away captive, and pray to the Lord for it; for in its peace you will have peace. Matthew 5:14 You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
