John 6:27-35. Do not labor for the food which perishes, but for the food which endures to everlasting life, which the Son of Man will give you, because God the Father has set His seal on Him.” Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” Therefore they said to Him, “What sign will You perform then, that we may see it and believe You? What work will You do? Our fathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Then they said to Him, “Lord, give us this bread always.” And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst God said the tithe is His. (Leviticus 27:30-32) Tithing is RETURNING to the Lord what is already His. Danger Zone : when our mindset is we don’t have to tithe because we are no longer under the law but under the New Covenant of grace. The tithe is a Biblical pattern throughout all of Scripture, bold Old and New Testament. There is spiritual warfare over our wallets. 1. My tithe demonstrates my trust and obedience. John 6:28-29. Then they said to Him, “What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?” Jesus answered and said to them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent.” The struggle for Lordship over my heart is settled when I tithe. Danger Zones : When we think tithing is just about money When we live by what we see instead of by what God says. When faith is just an idea that never produces obedience. 2. My tithe appears irrational. 1 Kings 17:13. And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son. Logic says : “I can’t afford to tithe.” Faith says : “I can’t afford NOT to tithe.” 1 Kings 17:15-16. So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days. The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah. Matthew 6:33. Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Danger Zones : When we hold on to what we have instead of releasing it for God to bless, use and multiply. When we live according to human logic. Human logic will always say there’s not enough, no matter how much is in the jar. 3. My tithe brings growth in my life. Philippians 4:17. Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the fruit that abounds to your account. 4. My tithe makes me a Kingdom partner. 2 Corinthians 9:10-11. Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness, while you are enriched in everything for all liberality, which causes thanksgiving through us to God. Danger Zone : when we protect the seed, refusing to plant what we’ve been given. Danger Zone : when we think tithing is generosity. 2 Corinthians 9:8 God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. 5. My tithe is automatic. 6. My tithe is powerful. Malachi 3:10-11 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says the Lord of hosts. 7. My tithe is worship. John 1:16. And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace. NTCC Core Value : Grace. We find rest and joy in God’s unearned favor. The tithe trains, tests and transforms our hearts.
