Palm Sunday. April 13, 2025. Zechariah 9:9-10 Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey. I will cut off the chariot from Ephraim and the horse from Jerusalem; the battle bow shall be cut off. He shall speak peace to the nations; His dominion shall be ‘from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth.’ Mark 11:1-10. Now when they drew near Jerusalem, to Bethphage and Bethany, at the Mount of Olives, He sent two of His disciples; and He said to them, “Go into the village opposite you; and as soon as you have entered it you will find a colt tied, on which no one has sat. Loose it and bring it. And if anyone says to you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord has need of it,’ and immediately he will send it here.” So they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door outside on the street, and they loosed it. But some of those who stood there said to them, “What are you doing, loosing the colt?” And they spoke to them just as Jesus had commanded. So they let them go. Then they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their clothes on it, and He sat on it. And many spread their clothes on the road, and others cut down leafy branches from the trees and spread them on the road. Then those who went before and those who followed cried out, saying: “Hosanna! ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Blessed is the kingdom of our father David that comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna in the highest!” We worship the King. We follow and imitate the King, which means we serve like the King. We receive from the King. Matthew 21:10 And when He had come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, “Who is this?” Jesus is a King of righteousness and salvation; humility and peace. Carrying out the will of God means you have to know the Word of God. God’s will is not a flashy toy. Obedience > optics. Faithfulness > fame. Purpose > popularity. Jesus is a King Who knows and sees. “Hosanna!” Save us! Save us now! A cry for help. An acknowledge of capability. Trust. Do your thing. A King of salvation. Jesus doesn’t just offer salvation; He is salvation. The King of Righteousness is the only One who possesses the ability to save. Zechariah 9:9 Your King is coming to you… lowly and riding on a donkey, a colt, the foal of a donkey. Luke 22:19 And He took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, “This is My body which is given for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” John 1:14 The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Philippians 2:8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. A King of humility. The King comes, not to demand or take but to give, serve and save. Jesus didn’t promote Himself; He promoted others. Jesus didn’t respond with condemnation but compassion. Jesus didn’t carry a sword but a towel. Jesus didn’t raise His voice or position but allowed His body to be raised on a cross. A King of Peace. He shall speak peace to the nations. Zechariah 9:10 He Himself is our peace. Ephesians 2:14 Romans 5:1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. The peace Jesus offers is the presence of His Spirit in the midst of our problems. Peace is the presence of God. Shalom peace. Wholeness for your entire being — body, soul and spirit. Completeness, soundness, prosperity and rest. Health, safety and total well-being. The Gospel is a message of peace. Psalms 40:16 Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; Let such as love Your salvation say continually, “The Lord be magnified!” Luke 19:40 He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” We worship continually, confidently, corporately and completely. They worshipped by giving Him reverence AND what they had. Don’t confuse your expectations with His purposes. The way UP is DOWN. The Kingdom of God is a selfless place where we lay down our lives for others. Romans 15:13 The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Purpose. NTCC exists to glorify Jesus and make disciples by connecting broken people to God.
